Dan's not expecting Dean to have a sudden happy memory between all the awful ones, and he wonders if it's contagious, if his memory of defusing mines with his father set off a similar set of comforting thoughts in Dean. But for as clearly warm and pleasant as those memories of Dean's are, they don't seem to have brought him any peace.
