The flashes that Mackenzie does get from her are awful. Unhappy. And yet so are the ones Mackenzie lets bubble up in return. Gunfire, death, and grief. She does her best just to focus on moving forward, her head still swimming as she comes down from grief and adrenalin.

"Kenzie. Hi Caroline," and then, almost as if it's automatic: "Caroline's a pretty name."
