Yeah, that didn't work. [Spencer, shockingly, doesn't say that as if it's Mona's fault - after all, Spencer joined in with the screaming, and it was a rational course of action, given that they can't outrun the wolf and it seems to be alone.

She stands frozen, figuring that if they bolt, they're just going to look like prey. Apex predators usually avoid going after anything that looks like it'd be more trouble than it's worth, but God only knows what A might have done to this wolf, if it's captive at all. It could be starving enough to go after even troublesome prey. It could be infected with rabies. It could be trained to attack anyone in a purple dress. Who the hell knows?

A already sent a horse, a cobra, and a car full of bees after them. Why not a wolf?

Spencer locks eyes with the wolf, holding a direct gaze. It crosses her mind that if she and Mona both bolt, the wolf will probably go after Mona instead of Spencer. Spencer's got longer legs and has played plenty of field hockey. Mona would be easier prey.

Mona may totally deserve it, but Spencer isn't about to leave her to get mauled by a wolf.

I think we need to start backing away slowly and considering southeast instead.
