So, How Injured Did We Get?
Who: Everyone
What: Gathering to figure out how many injuries and problems we have to deal with.
Where: The palace in Agrabah
When: Once the Shadowhunters and the Nazgul are gone
Warnings/Notes: Anything related to injuries and grievous wounds, most likely.
Well that wasn't a great night, was it.
Filbo pushes a straggling flying monkey out of the window, pretty fed up with them, and assesses the situation. From a look outside, it doesn't seem like there are any Shadowhunters or Nazgul in the area, or stalking around in the palace itself. This seems like a decent enough safe spot. Filbo takes out his mirror and, trying to smooth the fur of his head to not look like he spent the last couple hours being pulled around by flying monkeys failing to take him along.
"Um, so...that wasn't ideal" he said as a greeting. Hello, everybody! "We probably should gather somewhere, so how about you come over here to the palace? It's safe, it's--we probably shouldn't stick around because it's falling apart? But it probably won't all crumble down in the next couple hours, so...let's gather here and see if anybody's hurt"
That proposal is followed by some instructions to follow once you get to the palace, clearly meant to hinder any Nazgul who tried to get in. It's not complicated, but it's a bit of a hassle.
"I know doing all that is a pain, but at this point we gotta be careful. If anybody's too hurt for that just tell me and I'll--I'll figure something out once you get here, I promise"
The area of the palace Filbo judged was safe enough is an area on a second floor, from where one can see the lower floors. Plenty of escape routes. As much dust as possible was removed, some big rocks have been set around as the closest equivalent to seats he could find without going to scavenge. Windows let moonlight in, also letting one look outside. If there's anyone too hurt, Filbo goes down to help them come up here. Once everyone is here, he just goes to the window to keep an eye out on the outside.

Here we are. Let's find out who is injured, who has evil Morgul shards inside them, who has searing seraphic wounds, who got black breath on them...plenty of different things that could have happened.

How is everybody?

He doesn't stay on the line long enough to clarify, because his head is swimming with how much pain his leg's in, and he's expending enough effort trying to stay on his horse as it races towards the palace. He's long past being an asset in the fight, and now all he can do is get out of the way and far from danger to help the others.
It isn't a matter of pride or purpose. It's just tactical. He's a liability, not an asset, in combat right now.
He brings the horse to a stop under the palace window and gives a weak wave, then collapses onto his horse's shoulders, catching his breath.
no subject
"Got you, got you. Can you walk? Well, whatever, just hold onto me. Nothing's getting up there, but we better hurry up" It's curious -- among his species Filbo is pretty average in height, perhaps even a little shorter, but here he's among the tallest and widest ones. At times like these that sure feels like a good thing, making him able to aid in taking someone else along. Trying to get Dan off the horse delicately to avoid making injuries worse is difficult, but he does manage to help with that.
"Grab onto fur if you need to, just don't let go of me. If we go too fast tell me immediately. Come on, let's do it" He holds Dan as if he's concerned this man will crumple over at any time and glances at the horse. "I'll...come back for this one once you're safe inside, but I hope there aren't injuries on that one. Carrying an entire horse is a little above my paygrade, ahaha..."
Yeah, that was very clearly a little joke to try to keep Dan in high spirits, could have gone better. Having said that, he brings the mirror up while he's leading Dan into the palace. These mirrors certainly are convenient. Better keep everyone informed so once somebody has a moment they can come and aid Dan.
"One injured in the palace! Name's Dan, injury is..." he looks at Dan. "How bad is it?"
no subject
Filbo's fur is comforting. Dan's husband's furry too, and as Bunny's the primary person Dan has physical contact with throughout the days, Dan's come to associate being in the arms of someone coated in fur with security. Dan holds onto Filbo, half-carried and half-staggering.
He even gives Filbo an appreciative laugh at the joke, before clarifying: "it ain't bad enough to kill me. I've survived worse with no lasting damage."
no subject
It's more like Filbo is very resistant to physical damage. He has been launched into a tree so hard the tree cracked, and fallen down a literal mountain, and probably accidentally been set on fire at least once, and came out of all that with nothing more than momentary confusion. Compared to all that, to him humans so far seem a little bit like glass cannons!
To the mirror he says: "He seems fine! Just not in fighting condition, everything is in order! Just someone be ready to bring some of that healing magic once you're done" Note to himself: ask someone to lend him some of it too. These Archivist powers could be useful for keeping such things for times like these. Everything he currently has is combat-oriented.
Going up to the second floor is simple enough. Taking the closest route available -- and with as few stairs as possible -- doesn't take long, until they reach the area he had dusted off enough for resting.
"Lie down if you have to. I'll keep an eye out for threats"
Despite the deadliness of everything, Filbo seems quite calm about it all. Pretty levelheaded, for someone like him. Some would think somebody like Filbo would fall apart the moment things get rough.
no subject
He lies down, trying to breathe through pain, which was much easier when it had just begun and his body could be tricked into believing that the pain would pass if he just steeled himself long enough. It's clear from the way his thigh is hacked open that this pain isn't going to go away for a while, and possibly never entirely. At least lying down takes pressure off his back, which has locked up and spasmed with the effort of keeping his leg from getting painfully jostled while riding the horse.
"I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to meet you when this all started. I been avoiding the network a little." He knows he should leave Filbo to listen for threats as well as watch, but the idea of lying here in silence with nothing to focus on but the searing, massive wound.
no subject
Well, that and also some people's reactions when he talked through it the first time made him feel a little bit self-conscious, so he decided to leave the network alone unless he has something important. Less chance of others gawking at him and rambling about references he doesn't get.
That Dan is avoiding it, though...
"Did something happen to you? You don't seem like the--like the shy type"
no subject
He takes a long, slow breath. He's generally social, but that's usually facilitating other people's activity and observing; Dan's made an art of not giving very much information to others while getting a lot from them, of being accommodating to the point of passive.
Similarly, Bunny pointed Filbo out to Dan, with the emphatic declaration: that one's going to get bullied.
"Nah, same as you. A little overwhelmed, was all. I got a tendency to want to please people, and it's hard to do that when there's so many of them all at once."
no subject
But now he's here in this new group and Filbo feels like he's back to square one. True, he has changed and stopped being a total doormat, but he's still pretty concerned the same pattern will repeat all over. Filbo is trying pretty hard not to let all that begin once again, but he's also pretty sure it's too late for that.
What Dan says immediately gets Filbo talking. Time to give advice Filbo himself doesn't take even though he should!
"Aw, buddy, take it from me: you can't please everyone. You're gonna run yourself ragged! And if that happens you won't be able to please anybody at all. Try narrowing things down a little somehow. Maybe not everyone wants you to be nice to them"
no subject
Dan's an extrovert, a people person, a social butterfly, but he's also a bit of a loner. Prior to the Rig, he worked alone, had no friends, no ties whatsoever. He wouldn't have ever anticipated being married and working on a team with fifty other people, and he resents the latter part quite a lot.
"How are you getting along with everyone?"
no subject
"Ah, it's going well! I mean, I'm still sometimes looked at like I crawled out of a well to bite someone's head off, but that's happening less these days. Progress, right?"
Yeah, he's unaware of what the Nightrenders did or else he'd have used a different exaggeration, and it also says a lot about how he has interpreted certain people's reactions because of his appearance, immediately letting his insecurities make him think it was because of something extremely negative. Probably didn't catch that he looked like he strolled out of a kids' show.
no subject
Dan hopes that no one's actually been cruel to Filbo over it. Given the breadth of different people here, given the way they all have to cooperate, given the Green's propensity for choosing people who are, at the least, inclined to acts of heroism, Dan hopes that something as inconsequential as someone's species won't interfere with group cohesion.
no subject
Filbo nods, opens his mouth to reply, and only then his mind processes what he heard. Somehow, a mild compliment like getting called handsome gets him flustered right away, he looks away from the window and at Dan as if he wanted to figure out if Dan was mocking him after all. It was not serious, he knows that. Still, it came out of left field and then hit him on the face like a snowball and left like some hit and run.
He stammers: "Ah, um, ah, thanks! I-I'm...wow, what do I--um--" And then shuts up, paws clasped in front of his face. Pretty obvious he's dumbfounded and flattered!
Dan really has social skills, really. Just with a few words he managed to break the lingering tension and worries he felt talking to someone in this group, now making him feel far more comfortable. Truthfully, even if it was meant as a joke, it's easy for Filbo to be at ease with bold people nearby. Feels like he can relax for one and not worry all that much.
no subject
He smiles from the ground. "He won't mind if I compliment you, for what it's worth."
Dan's enjoys flirting, and it's a far cry preferable to just sitting around thinking of how miserable he is with his leg tore up.
no subject
Filbo blinks, all these flattered and confused emotions just swirling inside him until, almost not really thinking about what he's doing, he just...takes out the mirror, leaves it floating, and speaks into it.
"Uh, last message? About Dan's status? Uh, scratch that, he's--he's delirious. Concussion, most likely. Just saying"
Glaringly obvious he sure hasn't been flirted by anyone ever before.
no subject
Delirious how?

Filbo looks between the mirror and his own paw as if those things will have answers. Bunny and him look nothing alike! Is it because they both have tones of blue? Does Dan just have a serious fixation on the color blue?
no subject
What, you got low self-esteem or something? Dan, is tall and fluffy just your type now? I didn't think you had one.
no subject
no subject
Embarrassed, Filbo turns the mirror around. Somehow he doesn't think about turning it off.
no subject
He's not, but unfortunately for Filbo, he just makes such an easy target of himself. Which is why Bunny's going to throw paws over anyone else who bullies him, but he and Dan can do what they want.
no subject
Doesn't consider himself hideous, but as far as he's concerned, he's pretty average in appearance. Maybe humans have different standards, he thinks.
"Hahaha...I hadn't gotten so flustered since, ever."
no subject
Given that they're actively looking into a mirror right now, that cracks Dan up into a fit of laughter.
no subject
Wow.
"You two really are made for each other" These two are bouncing off each other for the sake of messing with Filbo it's flowing surprisingly smoothly.
Alright now, quick, how does one reply to that? Filbo stammers at first, attempting to deflect some of the attention onto others, takes a decision, and since Dan and Bunny are the ones around, they'll have to do. He turns the mirror around.
"Okay, okay, I'm--I'm really attractive; I'm the elegible bachelor of the year, hyahaha! But you..." he looks at Dan. There's the flaw in this plan: he doesn't know what about Dan is attractive. Filbo pauses for one second, two, gets a little afraid it'll sound insincere, and blurts out something neat. "Y-You're cute!"
Aced it. Then to Bunny:
"And you, um...n-nice ears!"
Aced it once again. High four, Filbo, you're navigating this with the social grace of a rampaging bull in a china shop.
no subject
Bunny's snickering, but of course, this isn't a situation that can be given over to just ribbing a nervous (but helpful) nellie like Filbo.
"I'll be back with some more medicinal plants later, so do me a favor and make sure Dan finds someone to give that leg a second look. Someone medically qualified," he clarifies, before putting his mirror away.
no subject
Once Bunny's mirror is away, Dan raises his eyebrows at Filbo and smirks.
"So...I think we're alone now." He bites his lip.
no subject
Oh, good, one less person to be tormented by. Enough for him to try to get his footing back and fight back, so to say. He can't let these two walk all over him! And fighting fire with fire probably will work!
...
On second thought, it won't. Filbo kind of forgot that someone who didn't even get flirted with ever before doesn't have the right experience to do the same towards someone else. Mental note: try to remember everything Dan has done, for future reference.
"Wow. I was gonna try to fire something back and instead I got nothing. I'm outmatched. I just have no idea how you can be so bold"
It's admirable! And a little bit daunting because that boldness has been in his vicinity, but mostly admirable. How can someone be so unabashedly bold, he doesn't know, but Filbo kind of wishes he could be the same way.
