MEMORY SHARE ※ 1

MEMORY SHARE

It's during a pause in their day. A nap. An idle moment looking out from the gardens at the landscape passing by below. Taking a moment to catch their breath after a jog in one of the castle's larger magic rooms.
The squad is suddenly connected. Mental pathways locking together, they're forced into one another's innermost beings. Thrust into one another's memory palaces where the mind collects and stores everything that makes them who they are. The core of their beings are only a few steps away and no one can prevent the link.
To make matters worse, it comes with no explanation or no ability to pull out and stop. Once they're through the first memory, perhaps they can find a way out, but they're already witnessing some event from their host's past. And, if they left, who knows whether or not they'd end up accidentally invading another memory palace?
And if they were there, who was in theirs?
[ooc: So, how this works: the memories can either be viewed in spectator mode or the guest can be experiencing everything themselves. The person whose memories are being shown, the host, can watch as their current self or take the form they had of their past self. They can also be invisible until the memory is finished. They can talk about the memory with the "guest" that's visiting.
They cannot control the first memory shown, the player decides that, but they can sometimes control any other memories they'd like to show people after. Of course, there's also always the option of an extreme emotional reaction bringing up other memories unbidden.]

[ Everyone edits how they present things, even themselves. Tim’s doing it right now: he’s very careful to not lay responsibility for not seeing what his Uncle Aaron had been up to. It doesn’t sound like he’d have that many opportunities to see what Aaron did for a living, given that his father wasn’t close to him, and it would be cruel to point out that Miles saved his life having a good relationship with his uncle, because it came at the cost of his uncle’s life.
Tim isn’t the best choice for consoling someone, but he wants to. He’s been in a situation near to this. ]
My dad - my real dad, not my adoptive father - he was murdered by Captain Boomerang because of me. I found him.
[ Tim’s afraid that talking about it is going to trigger a display of that memory, so the information is even more stilted that it would be normally. Miles doesn’t need to see more death.
It’s not a one-to-one comparison, because Jack Drake wasn’t moonlighting as a supervillain, but it’s still a teenager and a loved one with a fatal chest injury. ]
It’s… not something I talk about usually. I know we’re not close, but, if you need a hug, I’m not as bad at hugs as I am at offering them. You don’t have to process it alone, but I get it if that’s what you want.

[Aaron just definitely hadn't wanted Miles anywhere near the whole Prowler mess. Probably not just because of the chance of his cop father finding out but also that he genuinely did love and care about Miles. While Miles was aware of Prowler, he hadn't realized it was his uncle. Not initially. It's just going to take time for him to reconcile it. Against the Aaron he knew.
Miles sighs, running a hand through his hair and pouting slightly as he listens to the other, as he glances to Tim.]
Captain Boomerang? Ah, that's. Thanks.
[Miles is actually pretty free with his hugs. He's aware he doesn't really know anyone here too well yet, but even so. Opening up about it, especially with admitting he doesn't really talk about it, well. Tim probably isn't having the best time with all this either. Miles is quick enough in agreeing. They could probably both use it.]

So he just gives Miles a hug rather than say anything much, complete with a doubletap back pat. It's better than saying "I'm sorry for your loss." ]

He leans in, smaller arms coming briefly around Tim. This probably is better. Lest Miles get agitated at the annoying platitudes of condolences and reassurances.]
