In Which Caroline Organizes a Town Hall
Who: Everyone
What: Caroline holds court and everyone hashes it out over how to organize.
Where: The Heartstone.
When: After the leadership post on the network.
Warnings/Notes: Conversations may get intense due to the baggage characters are bringing to any conversation about authority, particularly structural authority. Threadhopping is encouraged; my notifs are off and you can treat this like a network post, just with face-to-face interaction. The mods reserve the right to shut down threads or the post entirely if it gets out of hand.
Caroline and Stacia have, by now, made little portable deer-hide cushions for every person they've counted up in the camp, all fifty three. It's taken them a while, and in the meantime, Stacia was on the mirror network announcing her candidacy for leadership, and Caroline was in the background making little tutting and tch noises. This is why she doesn't do the internet.
Finally, she gets her own mirror out and makes an announcement, then arranges the little cushions for everyone in a wide, multi-tiered circle, staggered so everyone has a view towards the center, all at perfect fifteen degree angles to the one next to them. She sets six little campfires to ensure everything's well-lit. And she folds her arms and she waits.

[She pokes at the deerskin cushion she's not sitting on.]
I guess not everyone here's got their priorities straight.
[How much time did they waste making dozens of pillows?]

Unfortunately, it seems a few others - [He gestures at Elle, Dean, Saturday, etc] - either don't see why he should be the one to say what we do, or think that what he's really doing is grabbing for power while everyone's too disoriented to object. They've been quite unwilling to budge and he, to his credit, isn't living down to their worst expectations.

[Huff.]
Saturday basically being an anarchist is no surprise. Where's Dan? He hates anything resembling structure. You'd think he'd be here telling the other side he refuses to cede his personal sovereignty.
[Kerrigan likes both of them, but she doesn't understand where they're coming from, Dan especially. She's lived through the ultimate expression of the things they're afraid of and thinks they both wildly overreact to authority.]

[Raistlin would think the speed with which people established political cliques and started drawing lines in the sand was extremely funny if he wasn't stuck with these people]

[Cheerful! Kerrigan's not trying to be heard, but she's not trying not to be heard.
Satisfied that this little distraction is nothing she needs to worry about, she rises and starts off in the general direction of "away."]
Catch you later, Majere.
[All surnames all the time with her, unless, like Dan, you've gradually beaten her into submission on given names.]

I follow. I need to sometimes because I don't have the childhood and as many years alive as a lot of people here. I may think like someone my age but that doesn't always mean I have the experience to judge things right. I've made some bad calls in the past because I had nothing to go on.
Someone on the mirrors mentioned being worried about different groups being represented in leadership. Different species. Nobody's stopped to think about the fact some people have a need to follow someone else hard-wired in for some reason.
It's pretty bad faith to assume I'm grabbing for power.

Excuse me?

Unless you mean the age thing.

I believe I said it seems you assumed. I thank you for the clarification.

He does kind of want to ask if Raistlin's got some cough medicine for that, but it's not like he has anything to offer up if the answer is "no," and it's not like he likely needs to remind him of anything if the answer is "yes." So...time to not be an asshole. ]

There seems to be a pretty good line of people up for that, anyway. ]
