In Which Caroline Organizes a Town Hall

Who: Everyone
What: Caroline holds court and everyone hashes it out over how to organize.
Where: The Heartstone.
When: After the leadership post on the network.
Warnings/Notes: Conversations may get intense due to the baggage characters are bringing to any conversation about authority, particularly structural authority. Threadhopping is encouraged; my notifs are off and you can treat this like a network post, just with face-to-face interaction. The mods reserve the right to shut down threads or the post entirely if it gets out of hand.

Caroline and Stacia have, by now, made little portable deer-hide cushions for every person they've counted up in the camp, all fifty three. It's taken them a while, and in the meantime, Stacia was on the mirror network announcing her candidacy for leadership, and Caroline was in the background making little tutting and tch noises. This is why she doesn't do the internet.

Finally, she gets her own mirror out and makes an announcement, then arranges the little cushions for everyone in a wide, multi-tiered circle, staggered so everyone has a view towards the center, all at perfect fifteen degree angles to the one next to them. She sets six little campfires to ensure everything's well-lit. And she folds her arms and she waits.

[After her exchange with Kon, Saturday strides over to where Tim is sitting. She drops down in front of him, so as not to tower over him, and looks him straight in the eye]

I'm sorry I snapped at you. That wasn't the way to say what I wanted to say. My fear got the better of me, an' I took it out on you. It wasn't fair, it wasn't kind, and I'm gonna do better. That's all I got to say.

[And if Tim doesn't have a response, she gets back up and heads back to her pillow, closer to the fire]

[ When she moves in front of him, Tim blinks rapidly as his eyes refocus. She was talking to Kon a minute ago.

He’s been focused on his best friend and brother, to make sure they’re okay after everything Kon dredged up in an effort to convince people of their trustworthiness. All of his thoughts are wrapped up in remembering Kon dying and the devastation of an entire city being flattened. People he knew just - gone. And no one cares.
]

It’s fine. You don’t know us, and we don’t know you.

[ A little hard to muster any desire to rehash his points or bolster Kon’s. Saturday’s being kind enough to apologize; Tim can’t manage the same, but he fumbles in the vicinity. ]

We all have to learn to trust each other. He’s good at that.

[ Tim’s not great at trust even in better circumstances. If Saturday leaves, he won’t call after her. They’re all too invested in what makes their solution seem like the solution. ]

[Saturday nods.]

Trust'll happen. There's a bigger enemy out there. You'll see we're not what you're afraid we are; we'll see you're not what we're afraid you are. Give it time. Glad to have you on board.

[She isn't lying, or even engaging in a diplomatic falsehood. Then she gets up and leaves, since he doesn't seem to want company.]
