In Which Caroline Organizes a Town Hall

Who: Everyone
What: Caroline holds court and everyone hashes it out over how to organize.
Where: The Heartstone.
When: After the leadership post on the network.
Warnings/Notes: Conversations may get intense due to the baggage characters are bringing to any conversation about authority, particularly structural authority. Threadhopping is encouraged; my notifs are off and you can treat this like a network post, just with face-to-face interaction. The mods reserve the right to shut down threads or the post entirely if it gets out of hand.

Caroline and Stacia have, by now, made little portable deer-hide cushions for every person they've counted up in the camp, all fifty three. It's taken them a while, and in the meantime, Stacia was on the mirror network announcing her candidacy for leadership, and Caroline was in the background making little tutting and tch noises. This is why she doesn't do the internet.

Finally, she gets her own mirror out and makes an announcement, then arranges the little cushions for everyone in a wide, multi-tiered circle, staggered so everyone has a view towards the center, all at perfect fifteen degree angles to the one next to them. She sets six little campfires to ensure everything's well-lit. And she folds her arms and she waits.

I've changed my mind. Cato for dictator!

Warlord!

["Royalty" and "dictator" are loaded concepts but he at least seems fine when offering the correction.]

Oh, sorry. [she clears her throat]

Have mercy on me, Warlord Cato! [she goes down on one knee like a knight before their lord] Woe and shame upon my house for a thousand years that I mistook your glorious title!

[she's grinning the whole time]

[He is of course having this convo upside down while he dangles from Elle's shoulders as she spins him.]

No need to apologize, my noble axe warrior. Your noble heart is always nobly noticed.

Nobly.

Nobililily?

Nobily.

[He then adds quietly to himself, at his being super good at warlording:]

Man, I am crushing this.

[she winks at him]

You totally are.

Oh thank you, gracious warlord! My family will serve yours until the end of time!

[It speaks a lot to how safe he's been made to feel so far, and is being made to feel even in the moment, that someone unintentionally echoing something similar to what he heard on one of the most traumatic days of his life just is part of playtime.]

[He gets to be the most noble warlord that ever warlorded, the one in power. Who is good to his subjects and never unfair. And they love his warlording because they choose to and he has earned it with his might and benevolence not because he is a crazyface monster that looks like a green thumb that will kill their families.]

[Which is the exact opposite of everything he got to be: He was the one that was vulnerable. He was treated unfairly and cruelly. He lived in a place where people served someone out of fear.]

Tight! [Finger guns.] You keep doing your thing. My axe hand will wave benevolently on your family house for all of time.

No Knight of the Axe could ask for more, Mighty Warlord. I am at your command. [she says, with a flourishing bow]

[Saturday's not familiar with Cato or his backstory, but she loves kids, and she's spent enough time with them to know that however frightened or displaced the adults are feeling, he's feeling it ten time over. So she'll play along until he's done, since it's making him smile. It's not like it's a chore.]
